My husband won't eat a steak unless I have marinaded it with this marinade I came up with. I am a cook who doesn't measure. My kids requested that I start measuring their favorite recipes so that they can recreate the same tastes from mom's cooking, when I leave this mortal world...=) I managed to write it down for them. It will take even a very cheap cut of steak and make it mouth watering. Just leave in the marinade longer.

Ingredients For steak marinade

  • 1/4 c
    steak seasoning (montreal works best.)
  • 1 c
    olive oil
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    light soy sauce
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    finely chopped garlic
  • 2-3 Tbsp
mae ploy sweet chili sauce (optional)

How To Make steak marinade

  • 1
Mix all of the ingredients together with a whisk. I mix until the sauce is thickened or emulsified.
  • 2
Place steaks in a ziploc baggie or casserole dish. Pour marinade over the steaks. If you are using a good rib eye or new york strip, a couple of hours is sufficient. If you are using a leaner, less expensive cut, marinade over night for a tender juicy steak.
  • 3
While the steaks are marinading, flip them a few times or massage them if they are in a baggie.
  • 4
When you are ready to cook, pull the steaks out of the marinade and place on a hot grill. Rub them around in the marinade before cooking. Don't scrape off the marinade. That's it! Great for a roast also.
