This is a different bar-b-que sauce that uses lemons for a nice tanginess. Love to use it for cooking and also for a dipping sauce after, too. Adjust heat to your preference.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, mashed
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    hot pepper sauce
  • 1 large
    lemon, thinly sliced

How to Make Mimi's Lemony Texas-Style Bar-B-Que Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook onion and garlic in butter in medium saucepan until tender. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool for flavors to mingle before serving.
  2. You can add jalapenos or chipotles, bell pepper or cayenne for variation if you desire.
