Beef Pork Essentials: Versatile Sweet, Sour Sauce

This is a great sauce for pork and beef. It has sweet notes, and sour notes that catch you at the back of your tongue. It can be used for dipping, tossing, or as a marinade.

In the main photo, I cut up some beef, coated the strips with cornstarch, and deep-fried them. I then tossed them in a bit of this sauce. So yummy.

  • 1/4 c
    coconut sugar
  • 1/4
    liquid aminos, or tamari sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 Tbsp
    rice vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    ginger, freshly grated
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard, like coleman’s
  • 1 tsp
    sesame seeds
  • 1 - 2 pinch
    crushed red-pepper flakes, or to taste

How to Make Beef Pork Essentials: Versatile Sweet, Sour Sauce


  2. Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  3. Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan, over medium heat.
  4. Whisk the ingredients together.
  5. Allow the sauce to come up to a light boil, and then immediately take off the heat.
  6. Allow to cool, and then store in a non-reactive container in the fridge, until ready for use.
  8. Use for dipping, or cook up some pork and toss with the sauce. It even works as an overnight marinade. Enjoy.
  9. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
