This is a twofer recipe. It starts out as an amazing beef marinade, and later is boiled down to make a yummy sauce to be poured over the beef, and maybe some mashed taters. Oh yeah, baby!!! So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Tamari sauce, or liquid aminos
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coconut, or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons paprika, mild
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard power
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon nutritional yeast, optional
  • 1 pound beef, more on this later

How To Make awesome beef marinade/sauce

    PREP/PREPARE

    What you will need? A bowl for the ingredients, and a whisk.
  • Step 3
    Where’s the Beef This recipe is about the marinade; however, it is specifically tailored to enhance the flavor of beef. So, just about any cut will work. You could use it for a whole roast or cut it up into chunks or strips. Because of the number of acidic elements in this recipe the marinade time is only 1 – 2 hours… no more.

    How to store it? This marinade can be stored in the fridge for 2 – 3 days, or even frozen for several months.

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • Step 6
    Whisk all the ingredients together, except the beef. Including the nutritional yeast, if using.

    Use a whole roast or cut it up into cubes or strips.
  • Step 8
    Add the beef to a Ziploc bag or bowl and mix with the marinade.
  • Step 9
    Let sit for 1 – 2 hours, but no longer.
  • Step 10
    Remove the beef from the marinade, then cook according to your particular recipe directions.

    MAKING THE SAUCE

    Whisk together a tablespoon of flour with a 1/4 cup of beef stock Place the marinade into a saucepan and bring up to a simmer. Add the flour and beef stock, and whisk together until it begins to thicken.
