a-1 barbecue sauce aka shuman bbq sauce
Mom said she found this recipe on a bottle of A-1 Steak Sauce. Wherever she found it, this sauce was the "barbecue sauce of choice" at Shuman Cookouts from the early 1970's on. Mom always said you can go cheap on the ketchup & orange juice (meaning, to use generics) but you HAD to get the real A-1 sauce. One more thing, Mom was always concerned about cross-contamination, so after cooking the sauce, only part of it went into a 13 x 9 pan with the meat for the grill. The rest stayed warm in the pan until it was served as a dipping sauce. =^..^=
