Tajin is a Mexican powdered spice that I like really well. It has a mild spice. You can use any spice you want. Adjust the amount to taste.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups crushed strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 package 1 3/4 oz powered fruit pectin
  • 7 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup minced fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup tajin seasoning

How To Make spicy strawberry basil jam

  • Step 1
    In large pot combine the strawberries, and butter. Stir in the fruit pectin and bring to a full rolling boil stirring constantly. Add the sugar and return to a full rolling boil and cook 1 minute. Stir in the basil and Tajin seasoning. Remove from heat and skim off any foam
  • Step 2
    Ladle into 4 or 5 pint jars leaving an inch head space. Wipe the rims and secure with lids. Bring water bath to boil and add the jars ensuring that they are completely covered
  • Step 3
    Boil for 15 minutes. Remove the jars and let sit until cool and sealed
