Ingredients For spiced figs

  • 3 qt
    figs
  • 6 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    cider vinegar
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    broken cinnamon sticks
  • 2 Tbsp
    whole cloves

How To Make spiced figs

  • 1
    Cover figs with water and let stand 5 minutes. minutes.

    Mix sugar, vinegar, water, cinnamon, and cloves (tie spices in a cheesecloth bag), and bring to a boil. Add drained figs, return to boil and simmer 10 minutes. Let stand 24 hours.

    Second day: Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes. Let stand 24 hours.

    Third day: Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes. Remove spice bag. Pack in sterile jars. Process in a boiling water bath canner (212 degrees F.) for 10 minutes.
