Delicious addition to relish tray. Also good as an accompaniment to pork or venison and great with Chicken and Dressing.

Ingredients

  • 3 quarts figs
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons broken cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoons whole cloves

How To Make spiced figs

  • Step 1
    Cover figs with water and let stand 5 minutes. minutes.
  • Step 2
    Mix sugar, vinegar, water, cinnamon, and cloves (tie spices in a cheesecloth bag), and bring to a boil. Add drained figs, return to boil and simmer 10 minutes. Let stand 24 hours.
  • Step 3
    Second day: Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes. Let stand 24 hours.
  • Step 4
    Third day: Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes. Remove spice bag. Pack in sterile jars. Process in a boiling water bath canner (212 degrees F.) for 10 minutes.
