- 6 pounds apples
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla flavor (optional)

Step 1WASH & QUARTER APPLES. ADD WATER AND COOK UNTIL SOFT. STRAIN THROUGH FOOD MILL.

Step 2COMBINE APPLE PULP, SUGAR AND VINEGAR. COOK UNTIL THICK; ABOUT 45 MINUTES.

Step 3ADD SPICES AND VANILLA, IF DESIRED. POUR INTO HOT JARS.

Step 4PROCESS IN HOT WATER BATH FOR 10 MINUTES. MAKES ABOUT 3 PINTS.
