- 4 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- - 6 drops red food coloring
- 8 quarts sliced apples
- 10 cups water
How To Make canned apple pie mix

Step 1Prepare 8 quart jars for canning.

Step 2Wash, peel,core and slice apples. Fill all jars with the sliced apples.

Step 3Blend first 4 ingredients. Add salt and 10 cups of water. Cook until it starts to bubble and thickens. Add lemon juice, food coloring and pour over sliced apples in jars.

Step 4Seal jars up and cook 20 minutes in hot water bath. Makes 8 quarts of delicious apple pie filling that you can use in the winter time for a very good apple pie.
