Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup cranberries

How To Make candied cranberries

  • Step 1
    Cook 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons water in heavy small saucepan over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Step 2
    Transfer to top of double boiler.
  • Step 3
    Add cranberries.
  • Step 4
    Cover berry mixture and place over simmering water.
  • Step 5
    Cook 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 6
    Remove from over water.
  • Step 7
    Let cranberry mixture stand at room temperature overnight.
  • Step 8
    Place remaining 1/2 cup sugar on plate.
  • Step 9
    Drain cranberries well.
  • Step 10
    Add the sugar and turn to coat.
  • Step 11
    Let dry at least 30 minutes.
  • Step 12
    (Can be prepared 3 days ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)
  • Step 13
    Makes about 1/2 cup.
