I came across this recipe online. I made it as written but there was something, in my opinion, was missing. So, I tweaked it in a few places and it was much better. I first tried this on crackers and it was good. But, when I mixed it with ground beef it was amazing!

  • 1 small
    onion, coursely chopped
  • 5 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 tsp

  • 1/4 tsp

How to Make Bacon Jam

  1. Fry the bacon in a heavy bottomed skillet (with a lid) until almost crispy. Transfer cooked bacon to a bowl and set aside.
  2. Drain all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat. Add onion and garlic and sauté for about 5 minutes, until onion has a soft texture..
  3. Return the bacon to the pan and add all other ingredients.
  4. Bring contents of skillet to a boil and then lower heat to medium low. Cook for 30 minutes and check consistency. The consistency should be that of jam.
