This is a SUPER easy recipe. This also makes your house smell awesome.

Ingredients

  • - apples - mix 3/4 sweet with 1/4 tart apples fill slow cooker full
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (reserve 1/2 cup for later)
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed (reserve 1/2 cup for later)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (added later)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice (added later)

How To Make apple butter

  • Step 1
    Fill crock-pot with PEELED ,CORED , and CUT Apples.
  • Step 2
    In a separate bowl combine and mix well 1Cup Granulated Sugar 1Cup Brown Sugar Cinnamon , nutmeg , cloves and salt. Pour this mix over apples in the crock-pot (DONT STIR IN! Just leave it on top) Cover with lid
  • Step 3
    Turn on the crock-pot to low and cook apples for 1-2 hours then gently stir in the sugar mixture to coat the apples. Leave it and forget it and let it cook for the next 8-9 hours or overnight.
  • Step 4
    After letting your apples cook for 10-plus hours take off the lid and stir. Don't worry your mixture will be very dark and should be cooked down by half. Stir in Lemon juice and vanilla . Taste for sweetness, if needed add an additional 1/2 cup each of the sugars.
  • Step 5
    Let apple butter continue to cook for 1-2 more with the lid off to absorb more liquid and make the apple butter thicken more.
  • Step 6
    At the end of the cooking time smooth the apple butter with a blender. Spoon into clean pint jars , cover with lid and ring. *Be sure to follow recommended instructions for canning.
