A fellow JAP member asked if I had a recipe for milk gravy, so here it is friend. A delicious base gravy for to use on chicken fried steak or add sausage or chipped beef for over biscuits. Yum! Use bacon drippings or butter, it's all up to you.

prep time 10 Min
cook time 10 Min
method Stove Top
yield 1 1/4 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings or butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/4 cups milk - more to thin if needed
  • Fresh - cracked black pepper - i use 6 - 7 turns of the pepper mill
  • Kosher - salt to taste ( i use about 1/2 tsp )

How To Make ~ perfect white gravy ~

  • Step 1
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat bacon fat or melt butter to bubbling. Once bubbling, whisk in flour and continue cooking and whisking for 1 - 2 minutes, watch not to burn. Whisk in the milk and continue stirring as mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Season to taste with pepper and salt. If preparing ahead, may need to thin out with a bit more milk. It's a great gravy for adding sausage or chipped beef to serve over biscuits or toast.
