I love tomato gravy! This is one of those childhood southern memories that has been passed down through generations of good cooks. I loved in the mornings having tomato gravy, fried bacon, bisquits from scratch, and natuarally grits! It's even good on grits!!! My sister always tells me that I make bisquits just like mama and I do because she taught me a secret to it. I need to make this for my sister one morning soon before we go galvanting to antique shops.

prep time 10 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 can tomatoes (i use a frozen pint size bag from my garden)
  • 3-6 slices bacon
  • 1-3 teaspoon flour
  • pinch salt and pepper

How To Make tomato gravy and bisquits

  • Step 1
Fry bacon crispy. Set aside. Sprinkle flour in bacon drippings. Add tomatoes and a little water, cook on low-med heat. Add salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer until ready to serve. Depending on how thick you want your gravy; you may want to add a little more water
  • Step 2
Serve on homemade bisquits or you can dip (sop as we say in the South) the bisquit. I like to serve grits with this too.
  • Step 3
Thank you JAP friends I forgot to tell you to use the bacon as a side!!
