Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3-4 cups milk, as needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make southern sausage gravy

  • Step 1
    Brown sausage in a large skillet. remove sausage but keep drippings. Add butter to same akillet and bring pan to medium to heat.
  • Step 2
    Slowly whisk in flour, stirring constantly till smooth, cooking for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Slowly whisk in fist 2 cups of milk and mix, till bubbly. continue whisking in milk until you reach your desired consistancy Add salt and pepper to taste and return sausage to gravy.
