sausage gravy on biscuits
I have always loved biscuits and gravy. It was really special when Mom would add sausage... It is still one of my favorite treats for breakfast or sometimes even dinner.

Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 to 1 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 1/4 cups milk or half & half
- 1 can refrigerated butermilk biscuits
How To Make sausage gravy on biscuits
-
Step 1Bake biscuits according to directions on the can.
-
Step 2While the biscuits are baking you can make the gravy. Crumble the sausage into a large, nonstick skillet and brown until no longer pink. Remove sausage with a slotted spoon and set aside.
-
Step 3Add butter to the remaining drippings in the skillet and heat until melted.
-
Step 4Gradually add 1/2 to 1 cup of the flour and stir. Make sure that all of the drippings are absorbed. Stir constantly until smooth and bubbly. Cook until lightly browned to cook out the flour taste.
-
Step 5Slowly add milk stirring until smooth. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly.
-
Step 6Add sausage back to gravy mixture and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until sauce thickens. Salt and pepper to taste.
-
Step 7Pour gravy over biscuits or toast.
