Ingredients For sausage gravy

  • 1 pkg
    of breakfast sausage , any kind
  • 5 Tbsp
    of crisco shortening (total amount in the skillet
  • 5 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 3 - 4 c
    milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make sausage gravy

    break up and brown the sausage in a deep skillet.using a slotted spoon remove the sausage and add 4-5 tablespoons of crisco to the pan, now add equal amount of flour, whisk, whisk, whisk, do not brown, but do wait a few minutes to cook out the flour taste..(make sure your burner is not to high..

    add milk 1 cup at a time, whisk, whisk, whisk, as the gravy thickens you add more milk, until it gets to the thickness you like, add the sausage back in and salt and pepper to taste...

    spoon over biscuits, or toast, or bread, or fried potatoes....for a quick dinner you can use hamburger and spoon over mashed potatoes..
