Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash black pepper
- 2/3 cup lower-sodium beef broth
How To Make onion herb sauce

Step 1In a small saucepan, melt the butter over moderate heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes or until onion is tender.

Step 2Stir in flour,thyme,salt and pepper. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes or until flour is browned. Important not to burn just brown.

Step 3Add the beef broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to thicken.Cook and stir for 2 minutes more or until thickened. If you prefer a smoother sauce, strain through a sieve and discard the onion pulp. Serve sauce with meat and poultry. Makes 2/3 cup.
