Onion Herb Sauce

1/4 cfinely chopped yellow onion
1 clovegarlic, minced
1 Tbspall purpose flour
1/2 tspdried thyme leaves
1 dash(es)black pepper
2/3 clower-sodium beef broth
How to Make Onion Herb Sauce
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over moderate heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes or until onion is tender.
- Stir in flour,thyme,salt and pepper. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes or until flour is browned. Important not to burn just brown.
- Add the beef broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to thicken.Cook and stir for 2 minutes more or until thickened. If you prefer a smoother sauce, strain through a sieve and discard the onion pulp. Serve sauce with meat and poultry. Makes 2/3 cup.
