Ingredients

  • 1 package brown gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup water, to cover
  • 1/2 cup red wine (not cooking wine)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1-2 tablespoon butter or olive oil to cook mushrooms
  • 1 package sliced fresh mushrooms (8 oz)

How To Make horseradish and mushroom gravy for steaks

  • Step 1
    Combine the gravy mix, water, red wine, and prepared horseradish sauce in a saucepan. Mix well.
  • Step 2
    In a skillet, saute mushrooms in olive oil or butter until they are tender and have released their moisture. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Bring gravy mixture to a boil and then reduce heat - simmer (stirring constantly) until thickened.
  • Step 4
    Add mushrooms to gravy and spoon over steak.
