Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter or bacon fat
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black peppercorns, freshly cracked

How To Make black pepper cream gravy

  • Step 1
    In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter/bacon fat.
  • Step 2
    Whisk in the flour.
  • Step 3
    Saute the flour until lightly browned.
  • Step 4
    Remove pan from the heat.
  • Step 5
    Pour the milk into the pan in a steady stream, whisking constantly.
  • Step 6
    Return pan to the heat.
  • Step 7
    Whisk until the gravy thickens.
  • Step 8
    Whisk in the cream, salt and pepper.
  • Step 9
    Keep warm until needed.
