I love tamarind sauce for dipping Naan. I've heard that most of the small jars of tamarind paste I find at the local grocery store are pretty bad, so I have posted another recipe on how to make your own tamarind paste. This recipe is from "In Nirmala's Kitchen".

Ingredients For tamarind chutney

1/4 ctamarind pulp

1/4 cdark brown sugar firmly packed

1 tspground cumin

1 tspminced garlic

2 tspcayenne
How To Make tamarind chutney

1In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients with about 2 tablespoons boiling water and whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.

2Serve warm or let cool and store in an airtight container; refrigerate until ready to use. Stir well before serving.
