tamarind chutney

I love tamarind sauce for dipping Naan. I've heard that most of the small jars of tamarind paste I find at the local grocery store are pretty bad, so I have posted another recipe on how to make your own tamarind paste. This recipe is from "In Nirmala's Kitchen".

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup tamarind pulp
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar firmly packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons cayenne
How To Make tamarind chutney

Step 1In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients with about 2 tablespoons boiling water and whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 2Serve warm or let cool and store in an airtight container; refrigerate until ready to use. Stir well before serving.
