What to do with a neighbors generosity of free plums, just pick them and have fun.
Well plum butter it is! I used a crockpot overnight method which couldn't be any easier.
Delicious for toast, muffins, crackers, or making a savory dish with a plum sauce.

How to Make Pumpkin Spiced Plum Butter

Step-by-Step

  1. Wash and slice plums.
    Remove pits
  2. Place in crock pot with sugar and spices.
Pour 1/4 cup of purified water over. Mix and set on high.
Stir every half hour. After 1 hour turn setting to low and leave alone for 8 hours.
  3. I did this overnight.
In the morning I stirred and tasted for flavors.
At this time I used a immersion blender and blended till smooth.
  4. Put back in crockpot for another hour uncovered.
The consistency was perfect so I didn't want any more liquid by leaving lid on.
    Look at this color!!
I separated in 4 cup size jars.
These can be canned with easy 10 min water bath way.
    Great for gifting.
I will be using for other savory recipes besides enjoying on biscuits, muffins and toast.
  5. I'm going back for more plums!
