orange sauce, madeleine's
While the recipe does not state any meat or rice, I know mom served this sauce over whatever meat she chose, over a bed of rice. It was her "Chinese" style meal...she had a party and the guests sat on the floor to eat on low tables...and served this. Luckily, she shared the recipe with my stepmom, and I have it!

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup unsifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 ounces can whole mushrooms
- 10 1/2 ounces cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup canned chicken broth
- 1/2 cup orange juice concentrate, not diluted
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- - mandarin oranges, for garnish
- NOT ON RECIPE CARD:
- - cooked chicken or protein of your choice
- - cooked rice of your choice

Step 1Melt butter, add flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder. Drain mushrooms and reserve liquid. Add soup, broth, orange juice, mushroom liquid, nutmeg and brown sugar.

Step 2This would all melt together to form the orange sauce.

Step 3Mom served this sauce over protein and rice. Garnish with mandarin oranges if desired.
