Instant Pot applesauce in a mason jar. You can double or triple for more jars. This recipe made 1 quart and a pint of applesauce. Great for gift giving with a bow around it.

Ingredients

  • 8 apples, Granny Smith or any large you want
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or 1/2 a squeezed lemon
  • 1/2 - 1 cups sugar (you don't have to use sugar and go by the taste how much to add)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, room temperature

How To Make instant pot applesauce

  • Step 1
    Peel, core, and slice large apples. Pour water into the pot and add butter (keeps the foam down).
  • Step 2
    Add apples to the pot and rest of ingredients. Secure lid and put dial on pressure.
  • Step 3
    Cook for 8 minutes. Let it natural release for 10 minutes; then quick release.
  • Step 4
    When done, put in a blender for smoother or a potato masher for chunkier applesauce.
  • Step 5
    Pour into jars with a funnel leaving 1/2 head space. Store in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
  • Step 6
    Can also can them in a water bath. Putting applesauce in hot jars and hot lids and screwing rings tightly. Adding them boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Remove with tongs and label. They last 1 year.
