I don't remember Mom putting this over ice cream, but I do remember her putting it over hot cake so that it seeped into the cake. She served it with a dollop of whipped cream, or sometimes put it in a 9x13 and after the sauce soaked in, added cool whip to the top, like you would for a poke cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind

How To Make clear orange sauce, mom

  • Step 1
    Mix sugar, starch and salt in pan. Stir in juices and water, boil 1 min stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in butter and rinds. Pour hot over cake or ice cream.
