Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup finely chopped sweet onion
  • 1/3 cup sugar, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sherry, optional
  • 12 ounces fresh of frozen cranberries
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar or apple juice
  • 1 medium tart apple, peeled, cored, diced
  • 1 small orange, grated zest of...
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup toasted walnuts, chopped

How To Make apple cranberry sauce

  • Step 1
    In a medium saucepan, combine the onion, sugar, water and sherry. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer about 3-5 minutes or until the onion is tender.
  • Step 2
    Add the cranberries, cider vinegar or apple juice, apple and orange zest. Cover and cook over medium heat until the cranberries pop, about 10 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Remove from the heat and stir in the raisins and walnuts. Cool completely and refrigerate until ready to serve.
