My Mom's recipe. 12# turkey = 1/2 recipe if stuffing in turkey.. If not in turkey, add juice.

Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped celery (& leaves)
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon each: thyme, sage, salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup butter
- 6 cups bread cubes
- 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
- 1/2 cup chicken broth, wine or apple juice
- 1/2 cup (or more) chopped apples (i.e.granny smith)
- 1 pound ground sausage
How To Make stuffing, mom's

Step 1Cook sausage, celery, onions & seasonings in butter 15 minutes.

Step 2Add juice, broth or wine to bread cubes to moisten, then add cooked mixture, apples & poultry seasoning; stir thoroughly. Adjust with more juice or more bread if needed.

Step 3Place stuffing in turkey before cooking...Bake in turkey. If not stuffing in turkey, put in casserole dish, and bake at 325 for approx. 30 minutes.
