I discovered this recipe 20+ years ago in the newspaper. Our family loves it and we use it every Thanksgiving! Enjoy!

Makes about 9 cups

1 lb
mushrooms, sliced thin
1 1/2 c
chopped celery with leaves (4-5 medium-size ribs)
1 large
onion, chopped fine
1 c
butter or margarine
7 c
soft bread cubes
2 tsp
poultry seasoning
1 tsp
1/2 tsp

How to Make Mushroom-Celery Stuffing


  • 1In large skillet saute mushrooms, celery and onion in butter until mushrooms are tender. Toss with bread cubes, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. Makes about 9 cups of stuffing, enough for a 10-12 lb. turkey. You may add chicken or turkey broth if you feel it is too dry, but I usually never have to do this.
  • 2Note: Stuffing can be baked in greased covered baking dish or casserole in 325 degree oven 45-60 minutes or until heated through. For drier, crispier stuffing, uncover last 15 minutes.
