I discovered this recipe 20+ years ago in the newspaper. Our family loves it and we use it every Thanksgiving! Enjoy!

Makes about 9 cups


  • 1 lb
    mushrooms, sliced thin
  • 1 1/2 c
    chopped celery with leaves (4-5 medium-size ribs)
  • 1 large
    onion, chopped fine
  • 1 c
    butter or margarine
  • 7 c
    soft bread cubes
  • 2 tsp
    poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp

How to Make Mushroom-Celery Stuffing


  1. In large skillet saute mushrooms, celery and onion in butter until mushrooms are tender. Toss with bread cubes, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. Makes about 9 cups of stuffing, enough for a 10-12 lb. turkey. You may add chicken or turkey broth if you feel it is too dry, but I usually never have to do this.
  2. Note: Stuffing can be baked in greased covered baking dish or casserole in 325 degree oven 45-60 minutes or until heated through. For drier, crispier stuffing, uncover last 15 minutes.
