Dressing is my favorite part of Thanksgiving and the perfect compliment to turkey. I modified my mama's recipe and added some things my own family enjoys. Simple to make, but very flavorful!

Ingredients
- 1 pound dried bread cubes
- 1 pound ground pork sausage with sage
- 1 - onion, chopped
- 2-3 sticks celery, chopped
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 2-3 cups chicken broth (depending on how moist you like your dressing)
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons fresh sage, minced
- 1 - egg, beaten
- - ***i have also added cranberries or chopped apple, but that is optional.
How To Make mcbee's turkey day dressing

Step 1Butter a 3 quart baking dish. Preheat oven to 350*. Place bread cubes into a large bowl.

Step 2Brown sausage in a saute pan. Remove sausage to bowl.

Step 3Melt butter in pan over med-high heat. Saute onion, mushrooms, and celery until soft. Add to bread cubes.

Step 4Add sunflower seeds and sage. Mix well.

Step 5Mix egg into broth and pour over bread cubes, tossing lightly to evenly distribute. Place dressing into baking dish. Cover with foil and heat through, about 40 minutes.
