Back in the early 1950's my friend's Aunt worked for a local motel and this was the house dressing. It was a secret but she gave me the recipe. I didn't share until last year when we published our family cookbook. I was afraid it would be lost forever when I'm gone. Please try it, as written, you won't be disappointed.

yield Makes 1/2 gallon of dressing!

Ingredients

  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 - small onion, grated
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup catsup/ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 - lemon, juiced
  • 1 quart kraft mayonnaise (not salad dressing)
  • 3 cups wesson oil (or any good oil)

How To Make homemade salad dressing

  • Step 1
Beat eggs until frothy, add all ingredients EXCEPT oil and mayonnaise. Mix well. Add oil and mayo alternately and slowly, beating all the time. (If you add oil and mayo all at once it will separate and cannot be corrected.)
  • Step 2
This dressing is good as a dip, on sandwiches, burgers and 'dogs, even good on salad. It makes almost 1/2 gallon so is great to share.
