I first started making this recipe when I was in college. My then-boyfriend's mother made it and I fell in love with it. I've been making it ever since, and twenty years later I still love it. It is delicious, super-easy, and a huge hit at every get-together.

Ingredients

  • 1 package cream cheese, 8 oz
  • 1 can diced green chilis
  • 1 can hormel chili, without beans
  • 1 package shredded cheese of your choice. i like to use a mexican or taco blend
  • 1 large bag of tortilla chips
  • 1 jar salsa of your choice. if you make your own, definitely use that! if not, use your favorite store brand.

How To Make yummy baked cheese dip

  • Step 1
Spread cream cheese in the bottom of an 8x8 baking dish (teflon or pyrex). I use the bottom of a soup spoon to spread it evenly. If doubling the recipe, use a 9x13 pan.
  • Step 2
Next spread diced green chilis over the cream cheese.
  • Step 3
Then add the Hormel Chili, spread evenly.
  • Step 4
Cover with any shredded cheese. I use a mexican or taco blend.
  • Step 5
Bake uncovered at 350 for about 30 to 45 minutes. Check at 30 minutes. If cheese is not melted and bubbly, return to oven about 5 minutes at a time until cheese is melted and bubbly/beginning to brown.
  • Step 6
Serve with tortilla chips and salsa. Enjoy!
