This is a small batch, but it would be easy to make a larger amount. A friend from Texas says that this is the authentic way to make guacamole - no tomatoes!

Ingredients

  • 1 avocado, ripe
  • 1 clove garlic, grated (or 1/4 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/2 Serrano pepper or jalapeno pepper, minced
  • 1 tablespoon onion, minced finely
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (from fresh lime if possible)
  • salt, to taste

How To Make texas guacamole

  • Step 1
    Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit. Keep it to put in finished quac if not serving it right away, or to store leftovers until later.
  • Step 2
    Scoop out all the flesh into a small bowl and smash with a fork.
  • Step 3
    Stir in garlic, onion, pepper, cilantro, and lime juice until well blended. Add salt to taste.
  • Step 4
    Serve with tortilla chips or veggies as a dip. Or on tacos, etc!
