I have been serving this to family and friends for 30+ years and haven't met anyone yet that didn't like it. My Grandkids like eating the leftovers like a bowl of chili. Great served with home fried corn tortilla chips!

  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1
    large onion, chopped
  • 2 can(s)
    kidney beans, smashed with juice
  • 1 can(s)
    kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 1/2 c
    hot ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 2 clove
    fresh garlic, chopped

  • 2 c
    sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 1/2 c
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can(s)
    chopped black olives

How to Make Hot Texas Dip

  1. Brown the beef over high heat until brown and crumbly. Drain excess grease, lower the heat to medium and add the chopped onion and garlic; continue to cook until the veggies are tender.
  2. Add in the beans, ketchup (if hot is not avail. I add hot sauce to taste), chili powder, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for a a bit for the flavors to meld. I then put the mixture in a chafing dish.
  3. Mix the topping ingredients together and sprinkle over the hot mixture and allow the cheese to melt.
  4. Serve hot with tortilla chips!
