I have been serving this to family and friends for 30+ years and haven't met anyone yet that didn't like it. My Grandkids like eating the leftovers like a bowl of chili. Great served with home fried corn tortilla chips!

Add to Grocery List

2 lb
lean ground beef
large onion, chopped
2 can(s)
kidney beans, smashed with juice
1 can(s)
kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 c
hot ketchup
3 Tbsp
chili powder
2 clove
fresh garlic, chopped

2 c
sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
1/2 c
onion, finely chopped
1 can(s)
chopped black olives

How to Make Hot Texas Dip

  • 1Brown the beef over high heat until brown and crumbly. Drain excess grease, lower the heat to medium and add the chopped onion and garlic; continue to cook until the veggies are tender.
  • 2Add in the beans, ketchup (if hot is not avail. I add hot sauce to taste), chili powder, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for a a bit for the flavors to meld. I then put the mixture in a chafing dish.
  • 3Mix the topping ingredients together and sprinkle over the hot mixture and allow the cheese to melt.
  • 4Serve hot with tortilla chips!
