Making your own cheese sauce from scratch is super easy and super yummy ! You can use different cheeses for different flavors to tweak it any way to suit your family's taste. This is my basic "go to" sauce for great mac n cheese, and also for pouring over steamed veggies. This is sure to be a family favorite ! * Spice it up with Cajun seasonings or a drained can of Rotel

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons real butter,salted
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 8 ounces velveeta, cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper (black is ok)

How To Make smooth and creamy cheese sauce, millie's

  • Step 1
    In medium pot melt butter, then add flour, salt and pepper. Cook , stirring constantly, over medium heat for two or three minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add milk while you are stirring. Stir well to prevent lumps.
  • Step 3
    When hot and bubbly add the cheeses. Reduce heat to low and stir to prevent scortching on the bottom. After cheese is melted and incorperated well, taste, to see if you need more salt and pepper.
  • Step 4
    Serve over veggies or noodles.
