dip and fried green beans

These are up there with fried pickles and I can.t leave out fried green tomato....Last spring my husband and I went to Red River here in NM and I ordered these off of the menu...As you can tell I fell in cooking and eating love with them. They are so simple and amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pound green beans, fresh
  • 1 quart cooking oil
  • JODIES HOT DIPPING SAUCE (LINK BELOW)

How To Make dip and fried green beans

  • Step 1
    Preheat oil to 375* Tip, wash and pat dry on paper towel (green beans) In a bowl mix all dry ingredients, add milk (stir), add beaten egg (stir) till smooth, no lumps.
  • Step 2
    Dip green beans in batter and place in hot oil for 2-3 minutes turning for and even crisp. I use a basket to fry mine in. Do it in batches. They will be golden crisp in color. Drain on a paper towel
