Creole Congri Dip

Don't worry it's not that hot if you use Crystal or Franks Hot sauce because the cream cheese mellows it all out! Great with small crusty pieces of French bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium
    spanish onion - diced
  • 1 medium
    green bell pepper
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1 pkg
    bacon 16 oz
  • 2
    8 oz packages cream cheese
  • 1
    15 oz can black beans - drained
  • 6 oz
    crystal or frank's hot sauce
  • 6 oz
    tomato or vegtable juice

How To Make

    In a dutch oven or heavy large pot cook bacon until very crisp, remove, drain, crumble and reserve bacon
  • 2
    Remove all but 3 tablespoons of bacon fat then add diced onion and bell pepper & cook until well softened
  • 3
    Add minced garlic,cream cheese, black beans, reserved bacon, hot sauce & tomato juice - blend well
  • 4
    Pour into large casserole dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes
