I won my first recipe contest with this crab dip recipe in 1980. Do it right - Do NOT use imitation or claw crab meat, BACKFIN only! Do NOT skip the Old Bay seasoning! Taste the authentic dip.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint sour cream
  • 2 packages 8-oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 3 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons old bay seafood seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons milk (optional)
  • 1 pound backfin crabmeat, picked over
  • 1/2 cup extra sharp cheddar cheese

How To Make chesapeake crab dip

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients, in order, given, except milk, crab and cheese.
  • Step 3
    Thin mixture with milk (if desired).
  • Step 4
    Gently fold in crab meat.
  • Step 5
    Scoop into lightly greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  • Step 6
    Top with cheese.
  • Step 7
    Bake at 45 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Serve with snack crackers of choice.
