This BBQ Sauce for Chicken is tasty and quick to make. It can be used as a marinade, dipping sauce or brush it on while rotisserieing your chicken.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups cold low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, such as demerara
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce such as frank's® redhot
  • 2 teaspoons hot paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground himalayan sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (i always use mixed peppercorns)
  • 2 tablespoons 35% heavy cream

How To Make bbq sauce for chicken

  • Step 1
    To make a roux, in a medium pot over medium heat, add butter. When melted, add flour and whisk ingredients constantly for about 3 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Pour in cold chicken broth, whisking constantly until well incorporated. Add ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar, hot sauce, hot paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper; whisk well and increase heat to high.
  • Step 3
    When it boils, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 4
    About 5 minutes before time is up, add heavy cream, whisk and cook for the remaining time.
