bbq baked bean cheese dip

I found this in our local newspaper and it seemed questionable to me. I tried it, and it turn out pretty good. Best served with tortilla chips or spooned over them nacho-style.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3 - strips of bacon, finely chopped
  • 4 slices deli ham, finely diced
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup dijon mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cans cannellini beans, drained (15 oz.)
  • 1 package cream cheese (8 0z.)
  • 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 pound bag of corn tortilla chips

How To Make bbq baked bean cheese dip

  • Step 1
    In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, molasses, maple syrup, brown sugar, bacon, ham, onion, mustard and water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook, stirring often, until very thick, about 2 hours.
  • Step 2
    Add the beans and simmer another 15 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Then spread the cream cheese in an even layer across the bottom of a deep-dish casserole pan. Spoon the beans and sauce over the cream cheese, then top with cheddar cheese. Bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and heated through.
  • Step 4
    Serve with corn tortilla chips.
