I got tired of having the chocolate syrup disappearing every time I brought a bottle home from the store. So after some experimenting I came up with this recipe...enjoy!

prep time 5 Min
cook time 10 Min

yield

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups cocoa powder
  • 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt if desired
  • 1 1/3 cups boiling water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How To Make homemade chocolate syrup

  • Step 1
In heavy sauce pan combine cocoa powder, sugar and salt. Gradually stir in boiling water and cook over medium heat until smooth and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Step 2
Pour mixture into a 3 cup container with a tight fitting lid and store in refrigerator. This will keep for about 3 weeks.
  • Step 3
Makes about 2 2/3 cups chocolate syrup.
