heavy cream substitute/low fat substitute

When a recipe calls for a specific ingredient, if you want it to come out like it says it will;you at the very least have to follow the recipe. Subs. should only be made in extreme cases; when you CANNOT get the item specified in the recipe. Some subs. don't work as well in some recipes as others. That being said; this recipe was given to me and I have used it in recipes calling for heavy cream very successfully. However, when I tried "whipping" the cream, it did not work at all. The fat from the milk just joined the butterfat and separated from the milk...Heavy cream, it is; Whipped it is not

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk (i use 2%, since that is what i have)
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted then cooled

How To Make heavy cream substitute/low fat substitute

  • Step 1
    Mix well; I use a blender. Use in place of 1 cup of heavy cream.
  • Step 2
    For low fat heavy cream: 8 ounces low fat cottage cheese 3 tablespoons non-fat powdered milk Combine in a blender. Puree for 5 minutes.
