Salmon and Corn Chowder with Peas and Pancetta

INGREDIENTS
1/4 pound chopped pancetta or bacon
1 pound skinless salmon fillets, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium onion, diced into 1/4-inch pieces
1 cup fresh or frozen peas
1 pound russet potatoes, about 2 or 3, peeled and diced into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup half-and-half
3 cups chicken broth or stock
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 scallions, chopped
2 3/4 cups fresh (from 4 ears) or frozen corn kernels
