Ingredients

  • 1 medium
    cabbage, shredded
  • 2 medium
    onions, thinly sliced
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    vinegar
  • 3/4 c
    salad oil
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 2 Tbsp
    celery seed
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    salt

How to Make German Ice Box slaw

Step-by-Step

  1. Alternate layers of cabbage & onion in salad bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and celery seed each layer. Combine vinegar, oil, mustard,1 tsp. sugar & salt. Heat to boiling point. Pour over slaw and put in refrigerator for up to 4 hours before serving.
