  • 1 medium cabbage, shredded
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup vinegar
  • 3/4 cup salad oil
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoons celery seed
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt

How To Make german ice box slaw

  • Step 1
    Alternate layers of cabbage & onion in salad bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and celery seed each layer. Combine vinegar, oil, mustard,1 tsp. sugar & salt. Heat to boiling point. Pour over slaw and put in refrigerator for up to 4 hours before serving.
