I got this recipe from a girl I knew years ago, I have tweaked it to my family's tastes. We have it all the time at almost every family function. I just received a request from my niece to have it for her baby shower this Saturday.

    nacho cheese tortilla chips
  • 1 bag(s)
    mixed salad
  • 2 lb
    80-20 ground beef
  • 2 pkg
    taco seasoning mix
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
  • 1 c
    your choice salsa(medium to hot)
  • 4 c
    cheddar jack cheese(grated)
  • 1 can(s)
    black beans, canned
  • 1 can(s)
    garbanzos, with juice

How to Make Taco Salad


  1. prepare the ground beef with the taco seasoning according to the package directions. let it cool to room temperature.
  2. mix all the wet ingredients(including both cans of beans with liquid) in a large salad bowl.
  3. add the salad mix, the grated cheese and fold together. Open the tops of the chip bags and crush to bite size. Fold into salad. Add the taco seasoned beef and stir. Chill before serving, at least one hour. Even better the second day!
