I found this in a cookbook for Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, but tweaked it a little bit to please my family.

Ingredients For old fashioned potato salad

  • 4
    cubed, peeled potatoes
  • 3
    hard boiled eggs, chopped
  • 2
    celery ribs, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 c
    chopped green onions
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    prepared mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper

How To Make old fashioned potato salad

  • 1
    Place potatoes in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 20-25 minutes or until tender; drain.

    Place in a large bowl; add eggs, celery and onions. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over potato mixture and toss to coat.

    Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
