My grandfather was German and my grandmother was Swedish. She made a lot of dishes from both countries. This has been a family favorite for generations.

Ingredients

  • 6
    medium potatos; peeled, boiled and sliced
  • 2
    hardboiled eggs, sliced
  • 1/2 c
    diced onion
  • 1/2 lb
    bacon, diced and fried
  • 2 Tbsp
    bacon grease
  • 2 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    vinegar
  • ·
    salt, pepper, and celery salt to taste

How to Make German Potato Salad

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine bacon grease, flour, water, vinegar, and seasonings in medium saucepan. Heat until bubbly. Combine potatoes, egg, and bacon in serving dish. Pour vinegar/bacon mixture over potato mixture. Gently toss to coat.
