This crisp, marinated sweet-and-sour slaw is a delicious alternative to creamy coleslaw.

distilled white vinegar
1/4 c
vegetable oil
8 c
green cabbage, coarsely shredded (about 1/2 large head)
1 c
red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 c
green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 medium
onion, thinly sliced
carrot, coarsely shredded

How to Make Texas Slaw


  • 1Whisk sugar, vinegar, and oil to blend in large bowl.
  • 2Add remaining ingredients and toss to combine.
  • 3Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • 4Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 4 hours, tossing occasionally. (Can be prepared 2 days ahead. Keep refrigerated.)
