southwest cole slaw

A friend brought this to a potluck last night. I have to get it written down before it escapes me! So flavorful!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 package cole slaw mix
  • 1/2 package broccoli slaw mix
  • 1 small - jalepeno, diced very small, seeded
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
  • - diced red, green or white onion to taste
  • 1/2 jar marie's coleslaw dressing from produce section
  • 1/3 cup peppered jelly, red pepper or jalepeno
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/3 cup smoked almonds, chopped
  • 1/2 cup red apple, grated
  • 1/2 cup green apple, grated
  • dash black pepper

How To Make southwest cole slaw

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine slaw mixes, grated apple, chopped smoked almonds, jalapeno pepper, onion and cilantro. Set aside
  • Step 2
    In a small bowl, combine Marie coleslaw dressing mix, cumin, black pepper and peppered jelly. Pour over slaw mixture and toss gently to coat. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Toss gently and garnish with chopped smoke almonds right before serving.
  • Step 3
    *As with any cole slaw recipe, you can change this up to your individual tastes. ** Any combination of slaw mixes to equal 6 cups will work for this recipe. *** Any combination of grated apples OK to equal 1 cup
