This one has no mayo and will keep 3 weeks in the fridge. NO April's fool. It came from my Aunt Ann.

  • 1 large
    head of cabbage
  • 1 large
  • 1 c

  • 2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 c
    cider vinegar
  • 3/4 c
    canola oil

How to Make Slaw


  1. Shread cabbage and onion and layer in a large bowl.
  2. Sprinkle sugar over all and set aside.
  3. Heat vinegar, salt, celery seed, mustard to a boil.
  4. Add the oil and boil GENTLY for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour over the cabbage mixture WITHOUT STIRRING while HOT. Cover and refridgerate several hours or overnight. Stir just before serving.
  6. Will keep in fridge for up to 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks. For real, NO April's fool.
