This one has no mayo and will keep 3 weeks in the fridge. NO April's fool. It came from my Aunt Ann.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

1 large
head of cabbage
1 large
onion
1 c
sugar

DRESSING

2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
celery seed
1 tsp
dry mustard
1 c
cider vinegar
3/4 c
canola oil

How to Make Slaw

Step-by-Step

  • 1Shread cabbage and onion and layer in a large bowl.
  • 2Sprinkle sugar over all and set aside.
  • 3Heat vinegar, salt, celery seed, mustard to a boil.
  • 4Add the oil and boil GENTLY for 5 minutes.
  • 5Pour over the cabbage mixture WITHOUT STIRRING while HOT. Cover and refridgerate several hours or overnight. Stir just before serving.
  • 6Will keep in fridge for up to 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks. For real, NO April's fool.
