I got this recipe from a local grocer's deli as I loved theirs so much and asked how it was made. It is great served with sandwiches or a side with dinner. A family favorite! ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 2
    10 oz. packages of frozen peas, thawed
  • 8 oz
    sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 c
    cheese, cubed - i.e., velveeta or american
  • 1/2 c
    green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    mayonnaise (do not substitute)
  • 1/4 c
    sour cream

How to Make Old Fashioned Pea Salad

Step-by-Step

  1. Blend together peas, water chestnuts, green onions, and cheese. In a separate bowl, blend mayonnaise and sour cream; spoon over pea mixture and gently stir to coat. You can also add celery (1 cup) and salt and pepper to taste. It should be refrigerated for a few hours before serving.
